I. Introduction
In April 2019, North Korea’s parliament
amended the North Korean Constitution
at the First Session of the 14th Supreme
People’s Assembly to usher in the Kim
Jong Un era.
This paper aims to compare Kim Jong
Un’s State Affairs Commission (SAC) with Kim Il
Sung’s Central People’s Committee (CPC) and
Kim Jong Il’s National Defense Commission
(NDC).
And the Kim Jong Un regime seems to be
intent on facilitating domestic policy
breakthroughs by amending North Korea’s
Constitution after the U.S.-North Korea summit
in Hanoi in February 2019 ended without any
deal or agreement. In this regard, this article also
aims to analyze the implications of changes in
North Korea’s state machinery for its foreign
policy in the coming years.
