Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was inaugurated for his second term by winning 68% of the vote total in the 2018 presidential election. However, the opposition has widely boycotted the election in which many opposition candidates were barred from running, under house arrest, or jailed, and votes were illegally bought. The election results were also dismissed as illegitimate by the United States (US), the Lima Group which is an alliance of 14 American nations, the G-7, and the European Union (EU).
Last but not least, it is advised to explore feasible ways to join the Venezuelan government’s efforts at salvaging the Venezuelan economy after the current political crisis is resolved.
