Transitional Justice in Central Europe and Its Implications for Korean Unification

This paper aims to analyze transitional justice in Central Europe from the following three dimensions, discuss experience of the Visegrad Group countries —Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia— and its implications for Korean unification, and suggest policy considerations. First, it examines a penal dimension of transitional justice, which concerns punishment of past human rights violations and prevention of future abuses. Second, it reviews a political dimension of transitional justice—vetting and lustration. Third, it analyzes an economic dimension of transitional justice that prevents continued economic dominance of the former elite class and implement economic justice.
