This paper predicts the 
relations between North 
Korea and China under 
China's President Xi Jinping 
and the DPRK's supreme 
leader Kim Jong-un. For that 
purpose, this paper examined SinoDPRK
relations under China’s President 
Hu Jintao and DPRK's leader Kim Jongil
and analyzed China’s foreign policy and 
policy direction towards the Korean 
Peninsula in the era of President Xi 
Jinping. 
China's leadership still 
highly regards North Korea's strategic value. In the short term, the focus will be 
maintaining the status-quo in SinoDPRK
relations, and Kim Jong-un will 
make a visit to China and meet with Xi 
Jinping. However, in the longer term, the 
situation will remain unsettled due to the 
North's nuclear issue. When China's 
leadership finishes assessment on 
the stability of the DPRK's regime, 
China will make proactive efforts to 
induce North Korea to adopt the policy 
of reform and opening-up of economy
and force it to abandon nuclear weapons.
