    A series of left-wing governments
    are continuing to take power
    in Latin American countries.
    With Ollanta Humala winning
the presidential election on June 5, the
so-called left now controls 10 out of 12
    Latin American countries. During the
    past decade, Latin American countries
have witnessed the rise of the left and
now Latin America as a whole is
    shifting to the left.
The key of Brazilia Consensus is
    simultaneously seeking market and
    socio-economic agenda. President Lula
may even use market as an effective
    means to achieve his socio-economic
agenda. For this reason, the "new"
leftists are often called “the pragmatic
left,” unlike the hard-line leftist who
    sought radical anti-market economic
    policy. IFANS 2011
